Something You should Know about Thermal Transfer Paper

Various patterns are printed on a special kind of paper with special thermal transfer ink, and then the patterns are transferred to the product through temperature and pressure. This special paper in the thermal transfer process is called thermal transfer paper.
Transfer printing refers to the printing process in which dyes are transferred to fabrics through transfer paper. It is based on the sublimation characteristics of some disperse dyes, selects disperse dyes sublimated at 150~230°C, mixes them with slurry to make color ink, and then prints the color ink on transfer paper according to different design pattern requirements ( This is a special kind of paper, so it is called transfer paper), and then the transfer paper printed with the pattern is in close contact with the fabric, and under the control of a certain temperature, pressure and time, it enters the fabric through diffusion, to achieve coloring purpose.
The transfer paper can output the pattern to be hot stamped with an inkjet printer and then print it on the clothes. Mainly divided into light-colored transfer paper and dark-colored transfer paper. Light-colored transfer paper is suitable for printing light-colored clothes such as white; dark-colored transfer paper is suitable for printing dark clothes such as black.
Transfer paper can also be divided into two categories: metal transfer paper and pigment transfer paper. In a broad sense, it also includes coated paper produced with heat-sensitive paint or pressure-sensitive paint, and paper coated with wet transfer film on the surface, such as lettering transfer film engraving, etc.
The composition of thermal transfer paper:
Inkjet thermal transfer paper is like a sandwich, with a functional coating that absorbs ink and separates dyes on the top layer, base paper in the middle, and a coating that resists warping on the bottom layer. The three-layer structure has a reasonable division of labor to form the inkjet thermal sublimation transfer paper. The transfer paper with good matching indicators will be good, otherwise, various application problems will be exposed. Strive for perfection in the choice of thermal transfer paper, the purpose is to let customers use it in a variety of environments and inkjet conditions with less trouble.
Storage of thermal transfer paper:
- When you receive the transfer paper, you should first check whether the transfer paper is damaged during transportation: ① The plastic packaging bag of the transfer paper is damaged and the packaging carton is damp. ②The carton is seriously deformed and the paper roll is flattened. ③Perforation of the packaging carton, piercing of the transfer paper, etc. may affect inkjet printing, and such transfer paper should be photographed and rejected.
- The warranty period of the inkjet sublimation transfer paper is 12 months. When using the transfer paper, try to use it first, and then use it later.
- The transfer paper should be placed in a cool and dry place away from direct sunlight. It is better if it can be placed in an air-conditioned room with constant temperature and humidity. The ideal storage conditions are relative humidity 40-70%RH, temperature 10-30℃, stacked horizontally on pallets to avoid moisture. Stacked in the shape of a pyramid, or separated by width, the number of stacking layers should not exceed the limit marked on the outside of the carton, generally no more than 8 layers.
